Santa Ana Saints Varsity took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Estancia. The game was tied at two with Santa Ana Saints Varsity batting in the bottom of the tenth when Julian Gomez singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Santa Ana Saints Varsity pitchers struck out ten, while Estancia pitchers sat down 12.
Santa Ana Saints Varsity captured the lead in the third inning. Adrian Gonzalez drove in one when he doubled.
In the top of the fifth inning, Estancia tied things up at two when Peralez doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Josue Sanchez led the Santa Ana Saints Varsity to victory on the mound. He allowed six hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Wood was on the mound for Estancia. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out three. Covey and Peck entered the game as relief, throwing five innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
Kaleb Jimenez started the game for Santa Ana Saints Varsity. He went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out five and walking zero
Gomez went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Santa Ana Saints Varsity in hits.
Estancia racked up 12 hits. Huber, Pearce, Peck, and Wood all managed multiple hits for Estancia. Huber led Estancia with three hits in five at bats.
