Multiple Teams · Boys and Girls Cross Country have strong finish at Mt. SAC, finishing 1st and 3rd in Division 1

The Santa Ana Cross Country team had an outstanding performance at the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 21, 2017.

The Varsity Boys won the Division 1 race with a strong tight pack led by Brain Soriano with a time of 15:59 in the toughest 3 mile course in country.  Right Behind came Diego Duran at 16:09, and Justin Amaro finished not far behind him with an individual best time of 16:19.  Francisco Avila, Nicanor Mateo, Jesus Zuniga, and Justin Dominguez all finished strong to give the
Saints the Division 1 Boys Varsity Championship.

The Varsity Girls also put a surprising performance together taking 3rd place in a tough Division 1 race.  The Saints were led by the sophomore  super star Maria Hernandez, who took 3rd place overall in a very fast time of 18:59. Finishing strong behind Maria was another sophomore Bricia Guillen, followed by Nathalie Arenas, Guadalupe Aguirre, Johany Carmona, Angie Mateo, and Heaven Garcia.

The Santa Ana Freshmen Boys also got 3rd Place.  The Saints freshmen sensations Jesse Del Carmen and Brandon Palacios put up a battle for the freshmen individual Division 1 championship up to the last meter of the 3 mile course with Jesse Del Carmen edging teammate  Brandon Palacios  at the finish line, taking first place by milliseconds – both timing at 16:27 in the 3 mile course. Teammates  Kevin Ambrocio, Peter Barrios, Carlos Gonzalez, Víctor De Luna, Oziel Flores, and Luis Aguilar finished to secure the 3rd place finish.
